Environmental Policy

Gemcliff have recognised that the services they provide and their existence as a professional organisation has a direct and in certain cases an indirect effect on the environment. The services provided by the organisation improve the cleanliness in the areas in which our clients and we work, thereby creating a safer environment. We use products, equipment, machinery and transport, which might pollute the environment and therefore constantly monitor to reduce any risks that become apparent.

Gemcliff wants to continuously improve and will base its effort in environmental matters around the hierarchy of:
  • Reduction
  • Re-use, and
  • Recycling
Our environmental improvement programme is based on the following areas
Operations – focusing on cleaning processes to:
  • Improve energy efficiency
  • Minimise environmental impacts associated with waste, noise, effluent and emissions to the atmosphere
  • Increase the value recovered from waste before its responsible disposal
Purchasing – focusing on procurement to:
  • Work in partnership with environmental responsible suppliers to minimise the use of resources and pollution associated with products and operations
Employees – focusing on training and communicating with employees to:
  • Increase the environmental awareness and relevant skills of everyone who works for Gemcliff
Administration – focusing on office based activities to:
  • Improve energy efficiency and office recycling schemes
  • Reduce the impacts associated with business travel

Recycling Policy

In a consumer society, expanding waste levels are an ongoing side effect of economic growth. But it is increasingly vital that recycling or recovery of these waste materials becomes a way of life, as developing legislation and ethical standards encourage us to protect and enhance our environment and the community.

Gemcliff quality and environmental procedures has enabled us to develop a dedicated service for recyclable materials. From fluorescent tubes to paper waste; from rags and clothing to metal & tin cans. Gemcliff is able to provide a variety of services to help our customers to recycle, recover or reprocess.

Gemcliff is a firm supporter of innovative recycling projects. We are constantly working with Government bodies and environmental organisations, developing recycling processes and seeking for new alternatives that will reduce the amount of waste that ultimately goes to landfill.
