Businesses across Wirral joined forces in a bid to clean up the borough.

More than 100 volunteers spent three hours tackling litter hot spots around Wirral, collecting 35 bags of rubbish.

The companies including Wirral Partnership Homes, Wirral Council, the Land registry, the Prince's Trust, West Cheshire Cleaning Services and British Transport police worked along side the community and Bidston and North Birkenhead Environmental Action Group (BNBEAG).

The event was organised by Business in the Community.

Volunteer Jean McIntosh, who was been volunteering on community projects for the last 11 years said: "It is important to work closely with the community and make sure youngsters have a greater understanding of fly-tipping and see how small things like taking your rubbish home can make such a big difference to a the appearance of an area"

Michelle Plimley , project manager for Wirral Partnership Homes, said: "We got involved with this event to support BNBEAG as part of Environmental Week. It was a fantastic opportunity to work with various other organisations and the day was a complete success."
